Microsoft Acquires LinkedIn - What That Means for CRM

On June 13th it was announced that Microsoft will acquire LinkedIn for $196 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at $26.2 billion. This acquisition is part of Microsoft's growing plan to expand its scope for its corporate customers. Career management, which is built into our product, has always been important to our clients and their members, but with this acquisition, we will be able to exponentially expand our offerings to our clients. Microsoft beat Salesforce in the deal to acquire LinkedIn which means they recognize that career management is at the forefront of members' and constituents' minds. 


Microsoft is committed to enhancing its CRM capabilities for customers. Microsoft Dynamics® CRM is promoted as an all inclusive system that embraces change and integrates easily with other programs. This message is highlighted in a Yahoo News' statement, "Microsoft’s decision to buy the career networking site reflects a growing integration between social and enterprise software." While the benefits of this deal are many, one clear benefit for CRM users is that representatives using Microsoft’s Dynamics software will be able to pick up useful information regarding the background on potential members from LinkedIn.
